Recycling Talk and Viewing

Have you ever had questions about waste like:

  • What goes in which bin, why? Does recycling even matter?
  • What are the biggest challenges in waste and recycling and what is being done about them?
  • How does our region stand up against other areas in terms of how well we recycle and compost our waste?
  • How can we reduce waste?
  • What are the alternatives to throwing things away?
  • How long does it take for things to breakdown in landfill?

Then come along and find answers on a visit to the Materials Recycling Centre where you can see how each waste stream is treated and look from the viewing room to watch how everything from the yellow bin is collected and sorted for recycling. It will be a great opportunity to ask questions about what happens to waste, where tricky and large household items go and the role of waste and waste reduction in meeting our targets of moving towards a circular economy.
